Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad is a nationally respected educationist and institution builder who serves as the Managing Trustee and Executive President of the MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions, one of India’s pioneering private education networks. He is also the Executive President of MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune. Known for his dynamic leadership and deep commitment to holistic and value-based education, he has significantly shaped India’s modern educational landscape.
He earned his engineering degree in India and went on to complete his MBA from Cardiff University in the UK. To further refine his leadership acumen, he pursued executive education at Harvard Business School. Inspired by the values and vision of his father, Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad — the founder of MIT Group — he has expanded the group’s reach across disciplines, including engineering, management, health sciences, law, media, and liberal arts, impacting over 80,000 students annually through 70+ institutions.
He is the founder of transformative platforms such as the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Student Parliament), which fosters democratic engagement among youth, and the National Teachers’ Congress, which brings together educators from across India to promote thought leadership in teaching. These initiatives reflect his deep belief in empowering the next generation and building a stronger, value-driven India.
His leadership at MIT-WPU emphasizes a unique blend of academic rigor, technological innovation, and peace studies — a rare educational model in India. He envisions universities as engines of social change and global harmony, where students are not only job-ready but also life-ready. Dr. Karad continues to champion education that is relevant, inclusive, and guided by ethical principles.
