Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy
Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy is a distinguished Indian orthopedic surgeon and joint replacement specialist with over 33 years of experience in the field. He serves as the Managing Director and Chief Joint Replacement Surgeon at Sunshine Hospitals, Hyderabad. Renowned for his expertise, Dr. Reddy has performed more than 60,000 joint replacement surgeries, including over 4,000 annually, making him one of the top four high-volume surgeons in Asia.
Dr. Reddy’s academic journey began at Guntur Medical College, followed by
advanced training at the Sancheti Institute of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation,
Pune. He further honed his skills in the United Kingdom from 1990 to 1999 before
returning to India to serve as a consultant at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad. In 2004,
he became the Founder-Director of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS),
and in 2009, he established Sunshine Hospitals, which has since become a
leading multispecialty institution in India .
Dr. Reddy is renowned for his expertise in knee and hip replacement surgeries,
robotic joint replacement, and arthroscopy. He was the first in Telangana and
Andhra Pradesh to employ computer navigation systems for total knee
arthroplasty and to introduce Oxinium Smith and Nephew prostheses in the region

He has served as the President of the Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons and is the founder of the South Indian Arthroplasty Academy.
